The Gustavus women’s hockey team (21-1-4) will face St. Thomas 18-4-3) for the seventh consecutive year in the MIAC Playoff Championship game on Wednesday afternoon at 4 pm at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The winner will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. You can follow the game via live stats or live video through the Gustavus website. Championship Game Notes — This is the seventh consecutive year that Gustavus and St. Thomas have met in the MIAC Playoff Championship game. The Gusties have won the last five, but each game has been very close with Gustavus claiming one goal victories each time.

— Gustavus has advanced to the MIAC Playoff Championship game every year since the MIAC added a post-season tournament ten years ago. The Gusties have won the MIAC Playoff title six times in nine tries including five straight.

— The Gusties and Tommies ranked #1 and #2 in both team scoring offense and team scoring defense during the regular season. Gustavus ranked first in scoring offense at 3.94 goals per game (71 goals in 18 games) and first in scoring defense allowing 0.61 goals per game (11 goals in 18 games). The Tommies ranked second in scoring offense at 3.22 goals per game (58 goals in 18 games) and second in scoring defense allowing 0.89 goals per game (16 goals in 18 games).

— Gustavus has compiled a record of 18-4-2 all-time in MIAC Playoff games, while the Tommies have registered a mark of 8-8-0.

— Offensively, the game features the top two scorers in the MIAC during regular season play in St. Thomas’ Jackie Carroll (7g, 18a - 25 points) and Gustavus’ Melissa Mackley (7g, 15a - 22 points). Other top scorers include the Tommies Jamie Tiede (9g, 10a - 19 points), and the Gusties Allie Schwab (9g, 7a - 16 points) and Jessie Doig (11g, 4a - 15 points).

— Defensively, the game features the top three goaltenders in the MIAC during the regular season including the Gusties Emily Klatt (9-0-0, 0.56 GAA) and Danielle Justice (7-0-2, 0.67 GAA), and the Tommies Lauren Bradel (10-1-2, 0.94 GAA).

— Gustavus has not allowed a goal in six consecutive games outscoring its opponents 25-0 during that stretch. The Gusties have posted 12 shutouts in 25 games this season and have allowed two goals in a game only four times.

— The Gusties enter the game on a 25-game unbeaten streak (21-0-4) dating back to the first game of the season when they lost to Adrian 2-1 in overime. The Tommies have posted a mark of 9-1-2 in their last 12 games with the lone loss to Bethel and ties with UW-River Falls and Bethel.
