Gustavus Adolphus College first-year forward Ross Ring-Jarvi (Anoka, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending December 15, 2008. Ring-Jarvi tallied three points on one goal and two assists in the Gusties’ 6-3 win over No. 13 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday in Stevens Point, Wis.

Ring-Jarvi assisted on a shorthanded goal to even the contest at 1-1 in the first period and scored a power-play goal at the start of the second period to give Gustavus a 3-1 lead. Ring-Jarvi added his second assist of the game on the Gusties’ fifth goal in the third period. Ring-Jarvi ranks eighth among Division III rookies with 1.27 points per game on three goals and eleven assists.

Ring-Jarvi, an undecided major, is the son of Roland and Sue Ring-Jarvi of Anoka, Minn. and is a 2005 graduate of Anoka High School.

Gustavus, which is 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC, improved to 3-1 against ranked opponents this season. The Gusties return to action January 2 against No. 5 Elmira at the Norwich Tournament in Northfield, Ver. at 3 p.m.

Gustavus Adolphus College is once again a Best College in The Princeton Review’s college ranking guidebook, The Best 371 Colleges. Also, Gustavus again made the Best Campus Food list. These annual rankings are based solely on input from college students.

Fringe Festival Features Gustavus Theatre and Dance

Since its founding, the Minnesota Fringe Festival has featured the work of hundreds of Gustavus Theatre & Dance students, alumni and faculty. This year is no exception, with a number of performances by alumni and current students across the 11-day festival.
