The Gustavus women’s golf team maintained its slim lead over defending champions St. Thomas at the MIAC Golf Championships with a team score of 324-333—657, while the men made a big move on day two moving from fifth to second place at 314-299-613. The tournament is being played at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn.
The women, who lead rival St. Thomas (328-335—663) by six strokes, are led by Kimbra Kosak (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) who is currently second individually with a score of 80-84—164. Taylor Drenttel (Eagan, Minn.) who has a 36-hole total of 78-87—165 and Kali Griggs (Jr., Burnsville, Minn./Visitation), who has a total of 86-79—165, are currently tied for second place.
The men, who jumped from fifth place to second place with a 36-hole total of 324-333—657, are 18 strokes behind Saint John’s (300-295—595). Gustavus is being led by Ricky Copeland (Jr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) who is currently second place individually with a 36-hole total of 75-71—146. Joel Schoolmeesters of Saint John’s is in first place individually with a 36-hole total of 71-73—144.
The third and final round will begin on Monday morning at Bunker Hills Golf Club.
