Gustavus Adolphus College junior Matt Stewart (Burnsville, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2007. Stewart had a stellar meet this past Saturday as Gustavus won the Gustavus Triangular over Luther College and St. John’s University in St. Peter. He took home first place in the 100 butterfly (52.55) and the 200 butterfly (1:56.17) and tied for first in the 500 freestyle (4:48.16). Stewart was also a member of the first place 200 medley relay team (1:38.50) and the first place 200 freestyle relay team (1:27.60). He currently holds the MIAC’s top times in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Gustavus Adolphus College will welcome author John Pomfret to campus Monday, Sept. 15. Pomfret, the author of this year’s Reading in Common book, Chinese Lessons: Five Classmates and the Story of the New China, will speak at 7 p.m. in Christ Chapel.
