Teachers Talking Technology
Join us Tuesday, November 4 for Teachers Talking Technology. Scott Bur and Steve Mellema will talk about visualization in introductory (science) courses. Free lunch at the Three Crowns Buffet, then meet in the St Peter Room from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. or again at 12:30 to 1:20 p.m.
New Faculty Orientation Session
The next New Faculty Orientation Session will be held Thursday, November 6 from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. The topic will be: Departmental Relationships, led by Mike Hvidsten and David Fienen. We will be meeting in Linner Lounge. Please come early as we will be handing out Market Place coupons and you'll need to the extra time to go through the line. We'll start the session at 12:45 p.m. and hope everyone can be through the Market Place by then.
Teachers Talking
Join Mark Anderson, Vice President for Enrollment Management for a conversation about recruiting students to make an incoming class, how financial aid packages are determined, and what faculty can do to assist in these vital efforts. Join us on Wednesday, November 12 from 4 to 5 p.m. for wine and appetizers and Thursday, November 13 for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. Both sessions are scheduled to meet in the St. Peter Room.

All faculty are invited to participate in a special workshop, during January, 2009: "How Information Works: Publishing, Libraries, and the Digital Future." This workshop, led by Barbara Fister, will introduce to faculty new databases and web tools for use in classes, provide time for faculty to talk with each other about common assigned readings and about using digital information in courses and assignments, and learn about publishing, open access, and copyright issues.
