Membership Opportunities

The Gustavus Heritage Partnership was established in 1988 to thank and recognize alumni and friends who have included the College in their estate plans. We believe those who make provisions for future gifts deserve to be recognized and thanked during their lifetimes. More than 720 individuals of all ages now hold membership in the Gustavus Heritage Partnership.

A planned gift, personally presented to Gustavus Adolphus College by the donor or arranged for delivery through the donor's estate, helps prepare students to serve in church and society. For many Gustavus Heritage Partnership members, a planned gift is an extension of their generosity and love for Gustavus Adolphus College.

Membership

As Gustavus Heritage Partnership members carry forward the high standards and traditions of the past, they are partners in Gustavus today. They help ensure the quality of Gustavus Adolphus College, the faculty, the students, and educational opportunities into the future.

We invite you to consider membership in the Gustavus Heritage Partnership by joining other alumni and friends who have invested in the future of the College. Membership is offered to alumni and friends who make provisions for Gustavus in one or more of the following ways:

• A bequest. Name Gustavus Adolphus College a beneficiary in a new or revised Will or add a Codicil to an existing Will.
• A future gift from an IRA, retirement plan, pension, or other qualified plan. Name Gustavus Adolphus College as a beneficiary for such plans or direct a plan into a testamentary unitrust.
• A gift annuity arrangement. Enter into an agreement with Gustavus Adolphus College for a charitable gift annuity, a deferred gift annuity, or a flexible gift annuity to provide a life income for one or two lives.
• A life estate. Make a gift to Gustavus Adolphus College of your home or farmland, retaining use of property during your lifetime.
• A trust. An irrevocable charitable remainder unitrust or annuity trust can benefit the donor(s) today and Gustavus Adolphus College in the future. A revocable trust arrangement also can establish future provisions for the College.
• An endowed scholarship. Establish an endowed scholarship to benefit Gustavus Adolphus College students. The scholarship will be awarded annually when the endowed fund matures.
• A gift to provide college funds for our grandchildren. Establish an education unitrust or a deferred gift annuity with a college option to assist grandchildren with funds for college.
• An insurance policy. Name Gustavus Adolphus College as the sole or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy. You may also gift the ownership of an existing policy to the College.
• An outright gift. Establish a restricted endowment fund using cash, property, stock, etc.

Recognition

New members are recognized at the annual Gustavus Heritage Partnership luncheon held each fall. Gustavus Heritage Partnership members receive a special gift in appreciation of their vision and generosity. Member names are listed in the annual Gustavus Heritage Partnership Roll of Honor program (unless members prefer to remain anonymous).
