Men's Soccer Opens Season With 1-0 Win Over Pacific Lutheran University
Ben Eriksson (Sr., Madison, Wis.) scored the game's only goal in the ninth minute to lift the Gustavus men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Pacific Lutheran University in a match played at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington on Friday evening.
Camp Darfur Exhibit Coming to Gustavus
Camp Darfur, an interactive awareness and education event that brings attention to genocide and the ongoing conflict in Darfur, Sudan, will be exhibited on Eckman Mall at Gustavus Adolphus College on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Men's Soccer Team Will Have New Look In 2008 Due To Graduation of 12 Seniors
The Gustavus men's soccer team will have a much younger look in 2008 due to the graduation of 12 seniors that helped last year's team post a record of 16-4-1 and tie for the conference title. Head coach Larry Zelenz, who has directed the Gusties to four consecutive conference titles, will look to senior captains Flynn Stewart-Franzen (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.) and Todd Johnson (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) for leadership.
Schoenebeck Announces 2008 Football Season Will Be His Last As Head Coach
Gustavus Adolphus College Head Football Coach Jay Schoenebeck has announced that the 2008 season will be his final season as head coach. After 29 years coaching college football, Schoenebeck has decided it is time to step away from the demands of being a head collegiate coach so he can dedicate more time to his family, which includes his wife Darcey, and their five-month old daughter Eryn.
