Description:  Athletic Trainers - Trainers must be in the trainers program.

Student Employment Assistants - Assist with preparation of water for all practices, hydration of athletes at practices, radio communication, daily cleaning and upkeep of the Athletic Training Room, making of ice bags for cooler, answering phone, greeting athletes to the Athletic Training Room.
Prerequisites:  Students will be in contact with sensitive and confidential information and must adhere to strict confidentiality rules and expectations.

Student dispatcher to answer phones, maintain log sheets, issue parking permits and maintain the Safety & Security office throughout the night.

Shift hours 1:00 AM to 4:30 AM every Friday and Sunday morning (coffee provided). Due to the lack of traffic for late night hours, the student employee is allowed to study and use the office computers for school use.

This position is "special approval" and open to students who do not qualify for student employment.
Prerequisites:  Dependability and good communication skills.

Department:  Campus Safety

Description:  Looking for students 2009/2010 Academic Year
Academic Buildings (AAA) - Monitor activity and patrol specific campus academic buildings during evenings: 6:00 P.M. until midnight Monday thru Thursday; 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on Friday; 11:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. (two shifts each day) on Saturday and Sunday. Shifts rotate so students do not work same day every week. Students monitor pedestrian "traffic" and patrol buildings watching for safety/security concerns (i.e. securing doors, windows, lights and reporting hazards that could cause damage to the college or be of harm to students or staff). Report and communicate safety and security concerns or suspicious actions to the on-duty Safety and Security Officers. Schedules generally include working 1-2 times per week. Dependability and good judgement are a must! Positions available for supervisors that will monitor activity of shifts, complete administrative duties, (scheduling, letters of warning, shift replacements, etc.), and act as a backup to dispatch/escort to work office phones or drive students across campus when escorts are requested. Valid driver's license is required.

Security Dispatch - A Campus Safety dispatcher will answer questions via telephone from students, visitors, staff and faculty; and be able to communicate these requests to the officers on duty via radio. Work schedules generally include one shift per week. Shifts will run Monday through Sunday evening, 5:00 P.M. to 1:00 A.M. Dependability and good communication skills are required.

Security Office - Work in department office. Basic office and communication skills. Strong public relations skills. Clerical skills to include computer data entry, word processing, and filing. Assist with projects. Confidentiality Agreement is required.

Department:  CITY OF ST. PETER - RECREATION & LEISURE SERVICES

Department:  Creative Play Place - Off Campus

Description:  POSITION *Office/Visitor Services Assistant *

*The Office/Visitor Services Assistant acts as the public face for the Creative Play Place.* *When working in Office Services will be responsible for working closely with and assisting director with all assigned office tasks as outlined in responsibilities *— including but not limited to greeting of visitors, PR tasks, data entry, and office management tasks. *When working in Visitor Services will be responsible for supervising and ensuring a safe, healthy, creative and caring environment for children and their families in which children can grow and develop.* Duties include opening and closing the Creative Play Place (lock up, lights, clean up), greeting all visitors and site contacts, signing in visitors, distributing and collecting information sheets and surveys, answering phone, selling merchandise, and handling class sign ups.

The Office/Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for administering the daily activities of the Creative Play Place when on duty - including: excellent customer service, supervision of play for safety, setting high standard for interactive play with children through example, teaching/participating in activities, retail operations, cleaning and maintenance of toys and site. The Office/Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for communicating ongoing Site information to the Executive Director via the log in notebook and by phone in important or emergency situations. This could include but is not limited to: phone messages, visitor questions, building issues, safety and health issues, monetary discrepancies, or other problems and concerns. Office/Visitor Services Assistant may occasionally participate in other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Hours may vary, but primarily fall in mornings or afternoons and Saturdays, with occasional special event shifts in evenings or Saturdays.

Department:  Culpeper Multi-Media Language Center

Description:  Students interested in computers and multimedia will find the opportunity to enhance their knowledge with hands-on experience and on-the-job training in this Macintosh-based computing center. Responsibilities include assisting language students in the Center with software/hardware needs, as well as assisting faculty with multimedia projects. Computer experience and language background is desired.

Department:  Gustavian Weekly Campus Newspaper
Openings:  1
Type:  Student Employment
Description:  Ad Productionists - Produce attractive looking advertisements on the Macintosh computer. Must have a good eye for design and typography. Should have knowledge of PageMaker, PhotoShop, and Word.

Calendar Editor - Compile a list of on-campus events on a weekly basis. Computer skills are desirable. Limited to one or two people. Preference given to upper class students.

Computer troubleshooter - Assist newspaper personnel with various computer problems. Must be very knowledgeable of Macintosh computers and have the ability to install programs and solve problems. Limited to one person. Preference given to upper class students.

Copy Editor - Proofread copy for consistency and accuracy before it is published. Must have good command of the English language. Previous reporting experience is preferred.

Office Manager - Promote, prepare and maintain newspaper subscriptions, order and inventory office supplies, collect and deliver newspaper's mail, make arrangements for transportation of the paper to the printer, and distribute and collect hourly staff timecards. Limited to one person. Preference given to upper class students.

Photographers - Take black and white photographs (using a 35mm SLR camera), develop film, and produce photographs digitally. Experience is preferred.

Writers - Conduct interviews and write stories for publication. Good writing skills are a must.

Web Editor - Design and maintain newspaper website. Prepare copy and photographs for the online version. Involves html formatting, so knowledge of computers and Web publishing is desired. Limited to one person. Preference given to upper class students.

Women's Soccer Gives Up Goal In Final Minute, Loses To Macalester 1-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team battled the Macalester Scots to a scoreless tie through 89 minutes, but the Scots' Emily Humphries scored her first collegiate goal with 40 seconds left in regulation play handing the Gusties a heartbreaking 1-0 loss. The Gusties fall to 6-5-2 overall and 2-4-1, while Macalester improves to 9-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the MIAC.

Men's Golf Finishes 11th At Weather-Shortened Twin Cities Classic

The Gustavus men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with an 11th place finish at its own 20-team Twin Cities Classic. The tournament was scheduled to begin on Saturday, however cold and snow canceled the first round. On Sunday, an 18-hole round was played at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn., but the snow forecast for Monday forced the cancellation of the final round and Saint John's who fired a team score of 289 was declared the winner. Gustavus posted a total of 302.

First Round of Twin Cities Invitational Cancelled Due To Snow and Cold Weather

The first round of the 54-hole Twin Cities Classic hosted by the Gustavus men's golf team was postponed due to cold and snow on Saturday. The tournament will attempt to continue on Sunday with 18 holes scheduled to be played at The Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn. and the final round will be played at Wayzata Country Club on Monday.

Men's Cross Country Takes Part In MSU, Mankato Invitational

The Gustavus men's cross country team took part in the Caty Delwische Invitational hosted by the Minnesota State University, Mankato at Land Of Memories Park in Mankato on Saturday morning. The meet was not scored. The course was 5,000 meters and the top Gustavus finishers included Anders Bowman, who placed seventh (20:04) and John Kennedy, who placed eighth (20:11).

Women's Cross Country Team Takes Part in MSU, Mankato Invitational
