| Description: | Art History Research Assistant - Help locate research materials, bibliographic sources, illustrations. Scan images and build websites. Will assist student to acquire skills.
Art Office - Copy materials for classes, run miscellaneous errands, file slides, maintain current bulletin boards, deliver and pick up mail, occasional typing. Ceramics Assistant - Work in the ceramic studio during evening hours to help students throw clay and assist with hand building assignments. Must have had a minimum of AR242 and preferably AR382. Ceramics Maintenance - Maintain clay studio, make clay and glazes, load and unload kiln. Experience or interest in art preferred but not necessary. Drawing - Maintain Drawing Studio and keep equipment organized. This includes straightening of furniture, still life materials, and drawing board. Pick-up and return books, borrowed equipment, and slides. Some assistance with planning, installing, and removing shows in the gallery. Some small design jobs for gallery events. Gallery Assistant - Assist in hanging art for shows, unpacking and packing shows, painting walls and display pedestals. Photography Lab Assistant - Responsible for two darkrooms, includes mixing chemicals and cleaning. Hours: open to your schedule. 24-hour access to darkroom. Sculpture - Help maintain tools and keep supplies in order under direction of instructor. Monitor sculpture and 3-D classes and help students with technical problems. Slide Assistant - Help build slide collection, label and file slides. Studio Assistant for Painting and Printmaking - Maintain tools and supplies for studio. Assist in wood working by sawing stretcher frames. Studio Models - Pose for drawings, paintings, and sculptures while wearing street clothes, leotards, or swimsuit. **Note: Some of these assignments overlap and students are given assignments from other areas in the Art Department, as needs demand. |

School colors are black and gold, and the mascot is "Gus" the lion.
The Gustavus women's soccer team battled the Macalester Scots to a scoreless tie through 89 minutes, but the Scots' Emily Humphries scored her first collegiate goal with 40 seconds left in regulation play handing the Gusties a heartbreaking 1-0 loss. The Gusties fall to 6-5-2 overall and 2-4-1, while Macalester improves to 9-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the MIAC.
The Gustavus men's golf team wrapped up its fall season with an 11th place finish at its own 20-team Twin Cities Classic. The tournament was scheduled to begin on Saturday, however cold and snow canceled the first round. On Sunday, an 18-hole round was played at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn., but the snow forecast for Monday forced the cancellation of the final round and Saint John's who fired a team score of 289 was declared the winner. Gustavus posted a total of 302.
The first round of the 54-hole Twin Cities Classic hosted by the Gustavus men's golf team was postponed due to cold and snow on Saturday. The tournament will attempt to continue on Sunday with 18 holes scheduled to be played at The Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn. and the final round will be played at Wayzata Country Club on Monday.
The Gustavus men's cross country team took part in the Caty Delwische Invitational hosted by the Minnesota State University, Mankato at Land Of Memories Park in Mankato on Saturday morning. The meet was not scored. The course was 5,000 meters and the top Gustavus finishers included Anders Bowman, who placed seventh (20:04) and John Kennedy, who placed eighth (20:11).
