Christian R. de DuveChristian R. de Duve shared the Nobel Prize in physiology/medicine in 1974 for his discovery of lysosomes. A pioneering researcher in the field of subcellular biochemistry, he founded the International Institute of Cellular and Molecular Pathology in Brussels, Belgium. He has recently turned his attention to investigation into the origin, evolution, and meaning of life on earth, as presented in his book, Vital Dust.
