Sean B. Carroll has focused his research on the genetics and molecular biology of animal development and how that relates to the evolution of morphological diversity. Labeled an "evo-devo" specialist, he is a professor of molecular biology, genetics, and medical genetics at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and an investigator of the university's Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
