Welcome to the Chaplains' Office at Gustavus Adolphus College. The Chaplains' Office seeks to serve the entire Gustavus community - students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends. Our intent is to be a nurturing and challenging presence in this community.
The center of our ministry is the worship of God rooted in the Lutheran Christian tradition. At the same time, we value and support ecumenical cooperation and interfaith dialogue - key commitments that are historically significant in the Lutheran tradition.
Christ Chapel is also a learning place where the Gustavus community can experience music from around the world, listen to homilies from a variety of perspectives, and gather together during significant personal and corporate life passages.
The ministry of Christ Chapel extends far beyond the walls of Christ Chapel. We engage in pastoral conversation with people regarding vocation, faith questions, relationship struggles, crisis situations, and the daily joys and sorrows of life. These conversations happen in classrooms, on retreats, after worship, in the Marketplace, during discussions, on walks in the Arboretum, in Bibles studies, during service in the St. Peter community, and in many other ways and places.
We pray and trust that God's presence is with us as we serve in this place.
Kom, var vår gäst,
stanna hos oss,
vårt hem är öppet.
Bär till oss ditt ljus,
uppfyll oss med din värme och klarhet.
Come, be our guest,
stay with us,
our home is open.
Bring us your light,
fill us with your warmth and brightness.
