Jed Friedrich will begin his fourth season as the head men's and women's cross country coach. Friedrich coached the women's team to a fourth place finish in the MIAC last season. Friedrich, a St. Cloud native and 2003 graduate of Northern Michigan University, was a three-time all-conference performer in cross country and track and field at St. Cloud Apollo High School.
Friedrich is also the head men's and women's nordic skiing coach at Gustavus. He was a two-time all-state honoree in nordic skiing at St. Cloud Apollo High School. He enrolled at Northern Michigan University in the fall of 1999 and was a member of the Central Region Championship teams in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He received All-America Scholar honors from the Nordic Ski Coaches Association in 2000. Friedrich served as an assistant at his alma mater in 2002 and accepted a teaching and coaching position at Herman-Norcross Community school in 2003. While there, he taught health and physical education and served as the assistant girls' volleyball coach, assistant boy's basketball coach and assistant track and field coach.
Jed and his wife, Jennie, live in St. Peter.

Dale Bahr

Dale Bahr, a native of New Ulm, Minnesota, has been an assistant coach at Gustavus since 2000. He is currently the assistant coach for the men's and women's cross country teams and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Bahr works specifically with middle distance runners on the track and field teams.
Prior to coming to Gustavus, Bahr was an assistant track and field coach at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, Le Center-Cleveland, and Nicollet High Schools. He was also the head cross country coach at Nicollet in 1998 and 1999.
Bahr was a four-time All-American in track and field, a national champion in 1992 in the 800m and a three-time letterwinner in cross country at Mankato State University, where he graduted from in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education, adapted physical education, and coaching. He was also the 1992 national indoor champion in the 800. He and his wife Tami and children Runnar and Jesiah live in St. Peter.
