The Gustavus women's track and field team finished second behind champion St. Thomas as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships which were hosted by Hamline University in St. Paul. Three Gusties claimed individual championships and that group included Lisa Brown (javelin), Shanna Dawson (pole vault), and Kaelene Lundstrum (high jump).

MIAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preview
The Gustavus women's track and field team will take participate in the MIAC Outdoor Championships this Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. The Gusties finished second at the outdoor meet a year ago and placed second at the indoor championships in March. Coach Tom Thorkelson's squad will attempt to use its talent and depth to sneak past St. Thomas into the top spot this year. The meet begins at 3:00 pm on Friday and then on Saturday, events begin at 4:00 pm.

Laura Edlund Named MIAC Track Athlete of the Week
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Laura Edlund (Forest Lake, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Track Athlete of the Week by the conference track and field coaches. Edlund placed first in the 5000M on Sunday at the Hamline University Meet of the UnSaintly with a time of 18:06.29. This time currently leads the MIAC honor roll.

Women's Track and Field Respond To Warm Weather With Strong Performances at Hamline
The Gustavus women's track and field team finally got a chance to perform in warm weather on Sunday at the Meet of the Unsaintly at Hamline in St. Paul. The team turned in eight top four performances during the day including four first place finishes. Senior pole vaulter Shanna Dawson led the way as she finished first in the pole vault at a school record height of 12 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

Kaelene Lundstrum Finishes Second in Heptathlon at MIAC Championships, Breaks School Record For Third Time This Season
Sophomore Kaelene Lundstrum finished second in the heptathlon at the MIAC Multi-Event Championships which were held at Carleton College on Thursday and Friday. Lundstrum tallied a total of 4,430 points breaking the school record she set two weeks ago at 4,349 points. Her total is the seventh highest in Division III this season and provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
