Gustavus placed first out of five teams at the North Country Invitational nordic skiing competition held in Biwabik, Minn. on Sunday, January 5. The Gusties were led by Britta Carlson (SR, Jericho, VT) who placed third individually in the 10K classic competition with a time of 31:50.
The invitational was scheduled on short notice after the St. Cloud State / St. John's University Invitational scheduled for Saturday and Sunday had to be cancelled due to a lack of snow in the St. Cloud area. The coaches from some of the schools slated to participate at the cancelled invite decided to hold a race where there was snowcover to afford the athletes a chance to compete. At the North Country Invitational, only classic races on both the women's and men's sides were held with no freestyle competitions.
Gustavus finished in 1st place with 39 points out of 5 teams
