Season Summary – The Gusties finished second in regular season MIAC play (20-2), but then defeated St. Olaf and St. Thomas to win the post-season tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Coach Mike Carroll’s squad hosted UW-Stevens Point in a the first round of the national tournament and suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss in double-overtime. The 85-minute game is the longest in the three-year history of the Division III women’s ice hockey tournament. The team, which compiled an overall record of 22-6-0, finished the season ranked sixth in Division III. Carroll directed the Gusties to their third 20-win season in the past four years. Post-season awards included first year player Andrea Peterson being named the MIAC Player of the Year and Mike Carroll being named the MIAC Coach of the Year. All-Conference honors were bestowed upon Peterson, Katie Deschneau, Laura Stypulkowski, Abby Randall, Ingrid Neve and Kristin Setterstrom.
