MIAC Playoff History

*Through 2007-08 Season

The six-team MIAC Tournament was initiated in 2001 for the 2000-01 season. Every year there is a fierce battle during the regular season to see not only who can win the MIAC title, but also who can finish among the top six in the league and qualify for the tournament. The winner of the MIAC Playoff receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Divison III National Tournament.

*Carleton went on to lose at Nebraska Wesleyan 73-51 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. St. Thomas defeated Claremont-Mudd Scripts 69-59 at home in the first round. St. Thomas then defeated George Fox (OR) on the road 64-52 to advance to the Sweet 16. St. Thomas lost to Washington University (MO) 65-58 in the Round of 16.
2001-02

*Carleton went on to defeat Wartburg 71-61 at home in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Carleton then lost at Chapman 87-74 in the second round. St. Benedict defeated UW-Stout at home in the first round. St. Benedict then was defeated by Pacific Lutheran 60-54 on the road.
2002-03

* Gustavus went on to defeat Loras 67-59 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Gustavus then lost at Pacific Lutheran 68-54 in the second round. Carleton lost to St. Norbert 60-47 in the second round of the tournament at home after receiving a first round bye.

* Gustavus, St. Thomas, and Carleton advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Carleton fell to UW-Eau Claire, 61-52 at Simpson in the first round while St. Thomas fell to Chicago, 62-59 in a first round game played at UW-Stevens Point. Gustavus was defeated by Simpson, 73-64 in the first round.
