Coach Kari Eckheart’s squad jumped out to a fast 9-3 start which included a 3-1 record against MIAC competition and strong performances in the St. Mary’s and Luther Invitationals. Unfortunately, several key injuries kept key players out of the lineup for several weeks in mid-season and the team never got back on track dropping 10 of its last 16 matches.
One of the Gusties season highlights included an upset of nationally ranked and eventual conference champion St. Benedict, 15-12, 17-15, 3-15, 15-9 at home on October 17. The team finished in 10th place in the MIAC with a record of 4-7. Junior middle blocker Jill Redebaugh was named second team all-conference.
