    The Gustavus men's basketball team claimed a thrilling 71-70 overtime win against Carleton in a MIAC Playoff Semifinal game at Gus Young Court in St. Peter on Thursday night. The Gusties rallied from six points down with :14 seconds left in regulation play to tie the score and send the game into overtime. Two free throws by the Gusties Andrew Doble with 1:19 left in the overtime proved to be the difference as Gustavus extended its season by claiming the 71-70 post-season victory.

    Gustavus men's basketball player Trevor Wittwer and women's basketball player Jess Vadnais have both been named finalists for the Josten's Division III Player of the Year Award. The announcement was made by the Salem, Virginia Rotary Club which presents the prestigious awards each year. Ten finalists are selected for both the men and the women and the winner is announced at the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Final Four in Salem, Virginia on Thursday, March 20.
  • Trevor WittwerMen's Basketball Player Trevor Wittwer Named To CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team
    Gustavus men's basketball player Trevor Wittwer, a senior from Redwood Falls, Minnesota, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-America Team. Wittwer, a Health Fitness major with a 3.89 grade point average, was a Third Team selection in the College Division.
  • Trevor Wittwer goes up high to score.Men's Basketball Struggles To Score Down The Stretch, Falls to Carleton 74-66
    The Gustavus men's basketball team was unable to hit the key shots down the stretch, while Zach Johnson knocked down several key shots for Carleton as the Knights slipped past the Gusties 74-66 on Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn. Andrew Doble led Gustavus with 12 points. Gustavus finished the regular season at 18-7 overall and 14-6 in the MIAC.
  • Men's Basketball Clinches Second Place Finish With Convincing 87-58 Win Over Hamline
    The Gustavus men's basketball team used a 10-0 run early in the second half to build a 14-point lead and then closed the door with a 19-3 run over the final five minutes on its way to a 87-58 win over Hamline on Wednesday night in St. Peter. The victory assured the Gusties of a second place league finish with one game remaining in the regular season. Coach Mark Hanson's squad is now 18-6 overall and 14-5 in the conference play.
  • Trevor Wittwer is fouled taking a jumper in the paint.Trevor Wittwer's Jumper With :07 Left Lifts Men's Basketball Over Concordia 51-50
    Senior captain Trevor Wittwer made a 15-foot turnaround jumper under heavy defensive pressure with :07 left in regulation play to help Gustavus claim an improbable 51-50 win over Concordia on Monday night in St. Peter. The Gusties who trailed 35-25 at halftime, limited the Cobbers to 15 points in the second half. Kane Sivesind and Jesse Van Sickle each scored 10 points to lead Gustavus.
  • Men's Basketball Falls To St. Thomas 76-68
    The Gustavus men's basketball team made a furious rally in the second half cutting an 18 point lead to two points with four minutes left, however the Tommies made four clutch free throws in the final :30 seconds to hold on for the 76-68 victory. The Gusties needed a win to pull even with the Tommies atop the MIAC standings, however with the loss, Gustavus is now two-and-a-half games back with four games left to play. Andrew Doble led the Gusties with 23 points.
  • Tyler Kaus made a layup with one second remaining to lead Gustavus to a 59-58 win over the Tommies in mid-January.Men's Basketball Battles St. Thomas For First Place On Saturday Afternoon
    The Gustavus men's basketball team will battle St. Thomas on Saturday with first place in the MIAC at stake. The Gusties enter with a record of 16-4 overall and 12-2 in the MIAC, while the Tommies enter with a mark of 18-3 overall and 14-2 in the MIAC. Earlier in the season, Gustavus defeated the Tommies 59-58 in St. Peter. Read on for a preview of the big game.
  • Men's Basketball Rolls To 93-60 Win Over Saint Mary's
    The Gustavus men's basketball team broke open a tight game with a 20-4 run late in the first half and never looked back on its way to a convincing 93-60 win at Saint Mary's on Wednesday night. The Gusties made 55.6 percent of their shots from the field (40-72) including an identical 20-of-36 from the field in each half. Trevor Wittwer scored 17 points to lead Gustavus to victory.
  • Sam Paulson goes up high for two of his 15 points.Men's Basketball Team Rallies From 14 Points Down To Beat Saint John's 70-68
    The Gustavus men's basketball team dug themselves a big hole in the first half, but came all the way and back and claimed a thrilling 70-68 victory in St. Peter on Monday night. Trevor Wittwer made a six-foot jumper with :20 left in regulation play to give the Gusties their first lead since the opening moments of the game. The Johnnies Ryan Lieser led all scorers with 27 points, while Wittwer led the Gusties with 17. Gustavus improves to 15-4 overall and 11-3 in MIAC play.
