Women's Golf In First Place After First Day Of Minnesota Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team shot a first day team total of 308 at the Minnesota Championships at the par-72 Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minn. on Saturday. The third-ranked Gusties finished 17 strokes ahead of second-ranked St. Thomas, which finished with a team total of 325. Katie Schenfeld (Fy., Indianola, Iowa) paced Gustavus with a score of 74 to tie for the individual lead heading into the last day of play on Sunday.

Kali Griggs (So., Burnsville, Minn.) completed the first round of competition with a score of 76, while Rachel Roberg (Sr., Rice Lake, Wis.) also scored below 80 with a round of 78. Kimbra Kosak (Jr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) posted a score of 80, as Amanda Johnson (So., Bemidji, Minn.) contributed a score of 82. Individually, Sarah Tracy (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) shot an 89, followed by Lauren Runsvold (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) posted a score of 91, and Kerri Groff (Fy., Bloomington, Minn.) shot a 98.
