Gymnastics Team Finishes Seventh At WIAC Championships

The Gustavus gymnastics team completed its 2008 season with a seventh place finish at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which were held at Hamline University. The Gusties posted a team score of 176.75. UW-La Crosse won the meet with a score of 186.200. Laura Hansen posted the top individual finish for Gustavus with a seventh place finish on the balance beam with a score of 9.40.

The Gusties posted individual event scores of 44.70 on the vault, 42.80 on the uneven bars, 44.65 on the balance beam, and 44.60 on the floor exercise.

Hansen led the Gusties on the balance beam with a score of 9.40, while Julie Kruchoski scored 8.90, and Laurel Urquhart totalled 8.850.

Junior Aryn Bell finished 13th on the vault with a score of 9.225. Other vault scores for the Gusties included Danielle Berg at 9.075, Emily Pickford at 8.825, Christine Askham at 8.80, and Melanie Deutsch at 8.775.

Gustavus will now wait to see if any individuals qualify for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships which will be held March 28-29 at Cortland State University in Cortland, New York.
