Gymnastics Team Posts Season-High Score of 178.60, Finishes Third At University of Minnesota Invitational

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team posted a season high team score of 178.60 and finished third out of four teams at the Best of Minnesota meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. The team posted season high individual event scores on the vault (45.70), the uneven bars (43.6), and the floor exercise (45.825). Kelly Mathewson compiled a season-high all-around total of 35.80. The University of Minnesota finished first (194.275) followed by Winona State (186.375), Gustavus (178.60), and Hamline (176.525)
On the vault, four gymnasts posted scores of 9.0 or higher including Kelly Mathewson (9.30), Danielle Berg (9.20), Christine Askham (9.175), and Aryn Bell (9.125). On the floor exercise, the Gusties were led by Askham (9.40), Mathewson (9.375), Jennifer Berglund (9.25), and Jessica Dolan (9.10).
Top individual finishes for Gustavus included Mathewson finishing fifth in the all-around (35.80), Askham placing eighth on the floor exercise (9.40), Laura Hansen finishing eighth on the uneven bars (9.325), Laurel Urquhart placing 11th on the beam (9.125), and Mathewson finishing 12th on the vault (9.30).
Gustavus will host the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in a dual meet next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
