Men's Golf Finishes Second at Twin Cities Classic

The Gustavus men's golf team finished second out of 17 teams at its own Twin Cities Golf Classic. The final round was played at Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington, Minnesota. Saint John's won the tournament with a total of 294-291-295--880, while Gustavus finished at 289-290-308--887. Individually, Jordan Hawkinson led Gustavus finishing in a tie for second with a total of 72-72-76--220.

The Gusties struggled a bit on the final day shooting a 308, but finished the tournament with an average score of 296 per round. Jordan Hawkinson continued his fine play this fall with three solid rounds (72-72-76) and a second place finish. He was followed by Ajeetesh Sandhu, who finished in a tie for seventh at 72-71-79--222, Eric Harris (73-73-78) and Kyle Rohlfs (72-77-75), who tied for 10th at 224, and Mark Stuckey, who tied for 29th at 77-74-82--233.

A large group of Gusties played in the tournament as individuals including Ricky Copeland (84-77-79--240 - 48th), Kevin Horn (80-79-81--240 - 48th), Josh Curb (80-82-81--243 - 58th), Alex Woodhull (79-87-78--244 - 62nd), Chris Cole (84-77-85--246 - 72nd), and A.J. Olson (84-77-85--246 - 72nd).

Gustavus will now prepare to play in the MIAC Championships which will take place Oct. 6, 7, and 8 at the Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. The Gusties tied for second last year and will be looking to re-claim the title this year and earn the all-important automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
