Women's Swimming in Fifth Place After First Day of UW-Stevens Point Invitational

The Gustavus women's swimming team is in fifth place after the first day of the seven-team UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Carrie Gunderson paced the Gusties with a second place finish in the 500 freestyle. The meet will conclude on Saturday afternoon.

Team scores from the first day were UW-Stevens Point 509, UW-La Crosse 503, MSU, Mankato 294, St. Olaf 227, Gustavus 225, MSU, Moorhead 174, and the University of North Dakota 23.

Gunderson turned in a time of 5:17.04 in her second place finish in the 500 free. The team also recorded sixth place finishes in the 200 and 800 free relays and the 400 medley relay.

Other top individual finishes for Gustavus included Sarah Koepp placing third in the 200 breaststroke, Christi O'Connor placing seventh in the 100 backstroke, and Britta Nelson placing eighth in the 200 butterfly.
