Women's Golf Third Following Second Round at NCAA Championships
The Gustavus women's golf team sits third after two rounds at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships.

The Gustavus women's golf team fired a second-round 322 to move into third place at the midway point of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. With a two-day total of 656, the Gusties sit four shots back of second place DePauw (652) and eight shots clear of fourth place Wartburg (664). Methodist leads after 36 holes with a team score of 615.
Sophomore Rachel Roberg (Rice Lake, Wis.) is currently the low Gustie on the leaderboard with an 18-hole total of 160. Roberg opened with a first-round 81 Tuesday before carding a 6-over-par 79 today.
Senior Kelli Groff (Bloomington, Minn.) made one of the bigger runs up the leaderboard in round two, jumping 15 spots into a tie for 31st place after firing a 5-over-par 78 Wednesday. Groff's score was bettered by only four scores. First-year Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) is tied with Groff with a 18-hole total of 165 after posting scores of 82 and 83 in the first two rounds.
Junior Breanne Staples (Windom, Minn.) and senior Alana Reetz (Sr., Milaca, Minn.) round out the Gustie contingent. Staples is tied for 22nd after shooting 85-82--167, while Reetz is two shots back in 29th at 86-83--169.
The 18-hole team score of 322 posted Wednesday is the lowest team score posted by a Gustavus team in the NCAA Championships, bettering the mark of 329 set during round three of the 2004 NCAA Championships.
