Volleyball Swept By Bethel 3-0

The Gustavus volleyball team saw their short two-match winning streak come to an end Wednesday night, falling to Bethel University 30-21, 30-27, 32-30 in Arden Hills, Minn.
The Royals were aggressive at the net all evening, racking up 54 kills. Liz Glesne, the MIAC leader in kills, added 17 more to her total, while teammate Amy Anderson tallied 16 kills of her own. The total might have been higher, but the Gusties came up with 15.5 total team blocks throughout the match, a season high. Gustavus junior Jami Moseng (Montevideo, Minn.) led all players with 4.5 blocks.
Sophomores Andrea Kron (Cold Spring, Minn.) and Jennifer Thelemann (Le Sueur, Minn.) led the Gusties offensively with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. First-year setter Bridget Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn.) produced 19 assists for Gustavus.
Bethel improves to 13-4 overall and 3-1 in the MIAC with the win, while Gustavus slips to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the league.
The Gusties travel to #20 Saint Benedict's on Saturday, while Bethel is idle until October 5 when they also make the trip to St. Joseph, Minn. to face the Blazers.
