Women's Cross Country Fourth at St. Olaf; Harren Takes Individual Title

The Gustavus women's cross country team placed three runners in the top six at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, but could only come away with a fourth place finish out of 15 teams. Junior Hailey Harren (Cold Spring, Minn.), the reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country runner of the week picked up her second victory in as many races with a clocking of 22 minutes, 10 seconds, breaking the meet record by 13 seconds. Senior Kourtney Joyce (Wadena, Minn.) picked up a top five finish, placing fourth in a time of 23:05. Ashley Cronin (Sr., Kandiyohi, Minn.) narrowly missed a top five finish of her own, placing sixth in 23:34 as she led a pack of five runners across the line.
The host Oles edged Macalester for the team title, 72-71, as both teams had all of their top five runners place in the top 25 overall. Wisconsin-Eau Claire finished in third place with 106 points, just ahead of the Gusties' total of 109.
The Gusties are next in action next weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.
