Men's Swimming Remains in Sixth Place at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team has compiled 139 points and remains in sixth place at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The 200 medley relay team, the 800 freestyle relay team and Will Sutor earned All-America honors on Friday. The championships are taking place at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
The relay team of Scott Hagemeyer, Brad Hammer, Will Sutor and Brian Amundson earned All-America honors on Friday night. The team placed fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.66, which set a new school record. The team earned honorable mention All-America honors on Thursday with a seventh place finish in the 400 medley relay.
Gustavus placed eighth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:53.68. The team consisted of Will Sutor, Greg Pokorski, Brian Amundson and Ben Hanson. The relay team earned All-America honors by placing in the top eight.
Will Sutor became the first individual at this year's championships to earn All-America honors for the Gusties. Sutor was seeded second in the 100 butterfly heading into Friday night's final. The senior set the school record Friday morning in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.35. He recorded the same time in the final to place second overall to earn All-America honors.
In the consolation finals, Scott Hagemeyer placed 16th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.93. Hagemeyer earned honorable mention All-America by placing in the top sixteen.
Gustavus will have swimmers competing in three individual events and one relay event on Saturday. Scott Hagemeyer and Brian Amundson will be competing in the 100 freestyle, Will Sutor will be competing in the 200 butterfly and Ben Hanson will be competing in the 1650 freestyle. The team of Scott Hagemeyer, Brian Amundson, Will Sutor, and Evan Christianson will be competing in the 400 freestyle relay.
The championships will conclude on Saturday. The prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. (ET) and the finals will start at 6:30 p.m. (ET).
