Minneapolis – The Saint Olaf women’s team maintained its lead, while the Gustavus men’s team surged past the Saint Olaf men into first place on the second day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet is being held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.

Carleton remained in second place with 454.50, followed by Gustavus in fourth with 419.5 and Macalester in fourth with 235. The Oles once again claimed only one event title on the day as Katie Detwiler picked up her second title of the meet by winning the 400-yard individual medley. Gustavus’ 200-yard medley relay team of Sara Pfau, Eva Miller, Katie Garvey, and Beth DeLaRosby set one of the few MIAC records on the day with a time of 1:47.12. That time also bettered the NCAA automatic qualifying time.

In the men’s race, defending champion Gustavus charged into the lead by extending its point total to 555 points. The Oles slipped into second place with 529, while St. John’s remained in third with 410.5 and Carleton stayed put in fourth with 250. The Gusties made their move by winning five event titles including the 200-yard medley and 800-yard free relays. The 200 medley team consisted of Scott Hagemeyer, Brad Hammer, Jonah Winter, and Brian Amundson and the 800 free squad was made up of Will Sutor, Greg Pokorski, Brian Amundson, and Ben Hanson.
