Gusties Defeat St. John's, Finish MIAC Regular Season Undefeated in Dual Meets

Meet Notes - The Gustavus men’s swimming defeated St. John’s 134-107 at home on Saturday afternoon and finished the MIAC regular season with a dual meet record of 6-0. The Gusties were led by diver Charlie Kimball (FY, Red Wing) who won both the one and three meter diving events, Nate Liddle (SO, Eagan, Minn.) who won the 200 free (1:51.22), Nate Rohling (FY, Sartell, Minn.) who won the 200 butterfly (2:08.44) and Nick Early (SO, Red Wing) who won the 100 freestyle (48.71). The Gusties 400 free relay team of Nick Brase, James Wetherbee, Nate Liddle and Nick Early also claimed top honors with a time of 3:19.18.

St. John’s picked up seven first place finishes in the meet including the 400 medley relay team of Andy Peterson, Jim Arnold, John Schiltz and Aaron Bidle (3:41.77), Andy Stern in the 1000 freestyle, Trent Peterson in the 50 freestyle, Luke Vestrum in the 200 individual medley (1:59.94) and the 200 backstroke (2:00.55), Matt Sharp in the 500 freestyle (4:59.75) and Dan Morgan in the 200 breastroke (2:14.01).

Gustavus will compete in the University of Minnesota Challenge on February 5 and then get ready for the MIAC Championships on February 24-26.
