David Pearson and David Martinson Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Team

Gustavus Adolphus College senior swimmer and junior hockey player David Martinson have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Pearson, a College Division First Team selection, and Martinson, a College Division Third Team selection, are the third and fourth Gustavus student-athletes to be named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans this year.

  • Five Gusties Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams
    Five Gustavus Adolphus College student athletes have been recognized as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division At-Large Teams. Kimbra Kosak (women's golf), Melissa Mackley (women's hockey), David Martinson (men's hockey) and Dave Pearson (men's swimming and diving) were named to the first team, while John Kauss (men's tennis) was honored on the second team.

    The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced on Monday that Gustavus Adolphus senior swimmer Dave Pearson has been named one of 29 men's winter sport recipients of a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Pearson, a two-time All-American as a member of the 800 free relay team, maintains a 4.0 gpa with a major in chemistry. He will attend medical school next fall at either the University of Minnesota or Washington University in St. Louis.
  • Men's Swimming Places 15th, Women's Swimming Team Finishes 35th At NCAA Championships
    The Gustavus men's and women's swimming teams made their final day at the NCAA Championships one to remember. For the men, Skylar and Whitaker Davis finished 8th and 11th respectively in the 1650 freestyle. For the women, Carrie Gundersen placed 9th in the 1650 freestyle and Anika Erickson finished 16th in the 200 breaststroke. The Gustie men finished 15th with 71 points, while the women placed 35th with 17 points.
  • Men's Swimming in 15th Place, Women's Swimming in 44th Place After Third Day At NCAA Championships
    The Gustavus men's and women's swimming teams continued to perform well at the NCAA Championships which are being held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis. The men's 800 free relay of Matt Stewart, Skylar Davis, Whitaker Davis, and Dave Pearson turned in the top performance of the day with an eighth place finish in a time of 6:44.90. On the women's side, Anika Erickson finished 21st in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.58.
