1996-97 Season
The Gusties were in the thick of the race for a national championship bid until the final day of the regular season. Unfortunately, the team finished the season ranked ninth in average team score at 140.11, just .3 of a point out of eighth place and a spot in the national meet.
The good news was that four individuals qualified for the national championships including Katie Kortuem in the all-around, Emily Pohland in the uneven bars and vault, Arlene Bertoni in the floor exercise and Kristin Beard in the balance beam.
