Athletic Department Hosts Women's Athletics Golf Outing

Sixty-five golfers participated in the golf outing.

The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletic Department recently hosted its sixth annual Women's Athletics Golf Outing on Monday, June 16 at the Le Sueur Country Club in Le Sueur, Minn. Sixty-five participants competed in the four-person golf scramble that raised funds for Gustavus women's athletics. Event winners included the first place team of Mike, Pat, Steve, and Terri Carroll, who won the event with a score of 63.

    The Chaska Cubs baseball team is sponsoring MIAC night when the squad faces the Austin Athletics on July 16 at 7:30 pm. Any fan wearing clothing from a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) institution will be admitted free of charge. Stiftungfest burgers will also be served. Several members of the Cubs played their collegiate baseball in the MIAC including two from Gustavus - Greg Lane, who is a current student, and Ben Elko, who graduated in 2005.

    Gustavus Adolphus College athlete Lisa Brown capped off an exciting track and field season by finishing 13th in the javelin throw at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on a hot, humid Saturday afternoon. The Lake Crystal, Minn. native recorded a throw of 48.08 meters (157 feet, 9 inches), and narrowly missed participating in Monday night's javelin throw final as the top 12 finishers qualified for the finals.
  • 2008 NCAA National Champion Lisa BrownLisa Brown Competing In Javelin Throw at U.S. Olympic Trials
    Gustavus Adolphus College student athlete Lisa Brown, the Division III National Champion in the javelin, is taking part in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, June 28. Brown, a native of Lake Crystal, Minn., heads into the trials ranked 12th nationally with a qualifying mark of 52.17 meters.
  • 57 Gustavus athletes received Academic All-ConferenceMIAC Announces 2007-08 Winter And Spring Academic All-Conference
    The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) recently announced its 2007-08 Winter and Spring Academic All-Conference honorees. The MIAC recognized 386 student-athletes who represented the conference's thirteen institutions. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition.
  • Andy BryanAndy Bryan Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
    Gustavus Adolphus College student athlete Andy Bryan has been selected to receive postgraduate scholarships from the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Bryan, a tennis player, is among a group of 58 student athletes that compete in a spring sport in NCAA Divisions I, II, and III to receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship.
  • Drew HoodDrew Hood Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America Team
    Gustavus Adolphus College senior men's track and field athlete Drew Hood has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team as released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Hood, a pole vaulter from Mankato, Minn., was named to the Second Team and is the eighth Gustavus student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors.
  • Hollingsworth FieldGustavus Hosts Minnesota High School All-Star Football Camp
    Gustavus Adolphus College is serving as the site for the 2008 Minnesota High School All-Star Football Camp, which began on Sunday, June 22nd and will conclude on Saturday, June 28th. The All-Star Football Game will be held at 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 28 at Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Gustavus is serving as the host campus for the All-Star Football Camp for the tenth consecutive year and for the first time at the new Hollingsworth Field, which was constructed in 2007.
  • Former Gustie Eric Butorac Wins First Round Doubles Match At Wimbledon
    Former Gustavus tennis standout Eric Butorac (Class of 2003) teamed with partner Ashley Fisher (Australia) to defeat Yves Allergo (Switzerland) and Sebastian Pietro (Argentina) 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-5 in a first round match at The Championships at Wimbledon in London, England on Monday afternoon (Monday night in London).
