Happy
Spring!
I hope this letter
finds you all well and looking forward to spring and summer. It’s a busy time of year for me with the
kids playing baseball, soccer, gymnastics, science fairs, and community
musicals. We look forward to slowing
down in the summer.
Gustavus is also
very busy this time of year getting ready to graduate another class and pushing
forward on a new football stadium. The
stadium really will be an amazing addition to campus. It’s not too late for families or individuals to get involved by
contributing a stadium seat, your name on a yard line or a couple of nuts and
bolts. I hope that our class can help
support this wonderful stadium just as others did for us when Lund Center was
built. Contact Gustavus as soon as
possible if you are interested.
Todd Raarup and his wife, Meredith, had a daughter born
on February 18, 2006. Her name is
Kathleen Jane. Congratulations Todd and
Meredith!!!
Karen Linner and Lester Shen adopted Natalie Hua Mei Shen
on August 29, 2005 from Hubei, China.
Natalie is now almost 18 months old.
I’m sure she is bringing you lots of joy.
Cassidy was born to Bob
Caulfield and wife, Danelle, on October 15, 2005. Congratulations to both of you!!!
Congratulation goes
out to Brenda Nordell Stafford and hubby, Danny. They had their first child, a boy, named
Zachary Taylor on September 7, 2004.
Enjoy, it goes by so fast.
Identical girls,
Christine Amelia and Caroline Ellen, were June 2, 2005 to Susan Irgens Dunbar and
husband, Douglas. They also have a
2-year-old boy, Robbie, to keep them busy.
Best of luck to you Susan! As a
mom of 10-year-old twins, I promise it does get easier in a couple of
years. Enjoy, they grow so quickly.

Rebecca Pohlman of Coon Rapids, MN continues to work as a
critical resource nurse at Unity Hospital in Fridley. She also works as a parish nurse at Peace Lutheran Church in Coon
Rapids.
Amy Rome continues to work for the Lakeville School
District as a kindergarten teacher.
Blair Vos Schrader of Sauk Rapids, MN is now supervisor of
software technical writing for Wolter Kluwer Financial Services, Inc. Congrats, hope it’s going well.
Sheila Hermes Hoernemann is coaching and teaching adaptive physical
education at Ortonville Public Schools.
Kris Amundson Gritters was recently elected as a trustee to the
Metropolitan State University Foundation.
Kris is vice president of public affairs for Goff & Howard,
Inc. She is one of Minnesota’s leading
political and public policy experts.

Jodi Quinn Hill is now working as an administrative
assistant at First Presbyterian Church.
Karin Magnuson Danforth changed jobs and is now a damage assessment
processor for PDA.
Doreen Grack Schultz continues working at St. Cloud Hospital, but
has switched from a charge nurse to an application coordinator – EMR New
System.
Tim Nasby is managing director – tax-exempt sales for
Piper Jaffray Companies.
Tony Gamelin is now self employed―CFO (Charley
Frank Oscar Integrity). I hope I got
that right. I’d love to know what it’s
all about.
Jeffery Reiners of Cambridge, Minnesota has a new career as
an account executive for Clark Products.
JoyZielske McElroy I believe is working at Crown College in
Waconia, MN.
Karyn White Hansen got a promotion and is now a librarian
assistant for Columbus Metropolitan Libraries.
Husband, Michael Hansen, is a teacher for Columbus Public
Schools.
Brent Anderson is vice president of marketing and operations
for LinkServ Golf in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
Sounds like a fun job.
Matt Miller works for the city of Denver – Park &
Recreation Board as a recreation therapist.
Congrats on the new job and hope you are enjoying it.
Mary Schoenfelder Lee of Maynard, Minnesota has changed her place
of employment from Clare City Care Center to Yellow Medicine County Family
Services. I believe she still works as
a social service designer. (Mary, hi
how are you?)
Gail Chase Ericson went back to work part time, after being
on-call for six years, to Ridgeview Medical Center as a physical
therapist. She also works part,
part-time at Flagship Athletic Club as a physical therapist.
The Alumni Board met on campus in February and made the final selection for the Alumni Awards:
Greater Gustavus Award: Gustavus Library Associates, for providing financial resources for Folke Bernadotte Library, and engaging and introducing alumni and friends in the mission of the College.
Distinguished Alumni Citations: Karen Bossart Rusthoven ’66, St. Paul, MN, founder and principal of Community of Peace Academy, St. Paul; Susan Semple-Rowland ’77, Gainesville, FL, professor of neuroscience, University of Florida and director, Neuroscience IDP Graduate Program; and Magnus Ranstorp ’85, St. Andrews, Scotland, chief scientist at the Centre for Asymmetric Threat Studies, Swedish National Defense College; and a Senior Honorary Research Associate and former Director of Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
First Decade Awards: Rebecca Konrad ’96, Washington, DC, investment officer, global transaction team, The World Bank International Finance Corporation; and Milo Martin ’96, Philadelphia, PA, assistant professor, Department of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Pennsylvania.
The awards will be presented on Commencement Weekend or Homecoming Weekend depending on the recipient’s schedule.

Gusties In
Volunteer Endeavors (G.I.V.E.)
Gusties love to serve
while they are students and after they graduate. Gusties In Volunteer Endeavors (G.I.V.E.), the annual day of
community service, will focus in the Twin Cities’ Phillips Neighborhood. This 1.6 square mile section of Minneapolis
has 3,100 families, and 31 percent of those families live below the poverty
level. This neighborhood also is home
to the American Swedish Institute. Come

I was just made
aware of a great giving cause that was started by the University of Minnesota -
Duluth Medical School and Peter Kebbekus, the husband of our late classmate, Annette
Boman. Pete is trying to grow the
endowment for the Annette L. Boman
Woman’s Fellowship for Cancer Research fund. He will be running the Boston marathon on April 17 in her memory
and will match any dollar amount pledged up to $2,620 ($100 per mile) for
donations made by the 30th of April. To
help ease the financial burden for some talented women pursuing scientific
research, submit your gift to UMD, School of Medicine.
