SDSU Jackrabbit Jousts
October 5-6, 2007
The Gustavus Adolphus College Forensics team placed FIRST out of 12 schools at the South Dakota State University Jackrabbit Jousts Forensics Tournament. The Gusties won six of the eleven events. Gustavus took first with 279 points while Kansas State University took 2nd place with 157 points. Gustavus also was awarded the 2007 Harlold Widvey Comprehensive Award. This award recognizes a program that displays excellence in oral interpretation, public address, and debate.

Talk of the Tundra/ Lyle Huseby Swing

The Gustavus Adolphus College Forensics team placed FIRST out of 10 schools at the Talk of the Tundra Invitational hosted by Concordia College and FIRST out of 10 schools at the Lyle Huseby Invitational hosted by North Dakota State University. The Forensics team also placed FIRST overall out of 10 schools in the combined tournament sweepstakes. The Gusties won 10 events. Gustavus took first with 556 points overall while North East Community College took 2nd with 145 points overall. Emma Moreau won individual sweepstakes for the Talk of the Tundra Tournament and Maria Sielge won individual sweepstakes for the Lyle Huseby Tournament.

Gustavus Adolphus College took 20th in the nation at the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament for the second consecutive year! Held at the University of Texas in Austin, Gustavus retained their stature as a prestigious top 20 AFA school. This year's impressive AFA team comprised of one senior, four juniors, six sophomores, and four first-years. Senior Brittney Lovdahl was awarded a spot on the 2008 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament All-American Team, becoming the third Gustavus student to do so. Sophomore Mary Cunningham advanced to quarterfinals in persuasion, and sophomore Emma Moreau advanced to semifinals in persuasion, the first Gustavus student to ever make semifinals.
