Campus and Community Involvement

Pre-Med Club
This organization is an informal gathering of students who plan to apply to medical school.  Activities in the past have included: panel discussions by various health professionals, study sessions in preparation for the MCAT, guest speakers on relevant topics, a bone marrow donor drive, and social activities.  See Janice Koppenhaver for information about joining.

Women in Science
A supportive group of predominantly female students and faculty who meet informally to discuss issues relevant to women in science.  Previous activities have included: presentations by women in graduate school, invited speakers on relevant topics, and social events.  Recently a theme house was established to foster the goal of encouraging young women to consider science as a career.

Visit the Community Service Office (Alumni Hall) for more information on the many programs supported for your involvement. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Big Partners-Little Partners (mentoring program)
  • Study Buddies (academic tutoring program)
  • Wednesday Friends (volunteer program at the Regional Treatment Center)
  • Elders Program (partnering with an individual in one of our local extended care facilities)
  • Headstart (working with young children to assure school readiness)
