Campus and Community Involvement
Pre-Med Club
This organization is an informal gathering of students who plan to apply to medical school. Activities in the past have included: panel discussions by various health professionals, study sessions in preparation for the MCAT, guest speakers on relevant topics, a bone marrow donor drive, and social activities. Women in Science A supportive group of predominantly female students and faculty who meet informally to discuss issues relevant to women in science. Previous activities have included: presentations by women in graduate school, invited speakers on relevant topics, and social events. Recently a theme house was established to foster the goal of encouraging young women to consider science as a career.
Visit the Community Service Office (Alumni Hall) for more information on the many programs supported for your involvement. These include, but are not limited to:
- Big Partners-Little Partners (mentoring program)
- Study Buddies (academic tutoring program)
- Wednesday Friends (volunteer program at the Regional Treatment Center)
- Elders Program (partnering with an individual in one of our local extended care facilities)
- Headstart (working with young children to assure school readiness)
- Science Fair Judging
