Jill Locke

Dr. Jill Locke (Associate Professor) teaches a range of courses in the history of political thought as well as feminist and democratic theory. Her research interests lie in the extra-institutional and extra-legal aspects of democratic politics--the moral and cultural elements of democracy. Jill is currently editing Feminist Interpretations of Alexis de Tocqueville, and completing a monograph, The Politics of Shame: Civic Invisibility and the Craving for Freedom. During the 2006-07 academic year, she will be a visiting fellow at the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
