    Current Research Activities
            I am presently conducting a large study of clergy and congregations in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Episcopal Church.  My co-investigator is Dr. Paul Djupe.  Paul currently teaches at Denison University and also serves as a research associate at Gustavus.  Click here for a summary of the project.  Initial findings will be posted on this site as they become available.  This project is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Political Science Association (APSA).

            I am also coauthoring a study of the influence of the Christian Right in the 1998 Minnesota elections, working with David A.M. Peterson, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
