Three easily editable sections

The Gustavus Template Container is composed of three easily editable sections. These sections are the key content areas that represent each page on the Gustavus website. The sections are as follows:

• The large, dark text at the top of this page is called the title. Because good titles greatly help your visitors find your page, they should always be clean, short, meaningful, unique, and relevant. Also, it is good practice to make your titles as direct as possible. Always avoid passive voice and put the subject up front.
• The section with the dark background at the left of this page is called the local navigation or links. This is where general navigation for your website belongs. To help your visitors navigate through your website, it is important for your links in this area to remain consistent across all of the pages within the same logical group.
• The section you are currently reading is called the body. The main content for every page belongs here and should be free of spelling and grammar errors and broken links and images. Be sure to double-check every page in your web browser each time you make a change.

Best practices

Because the web is not limited to any specific countries, devices, abilities, or skill levels, your visitors could be from anywhere and be accessing your site with any mix of devices and abilities. Additionally, most people generally have many tendencies when it comes to scanning, parsing, and reading content on the web. Therefore, it is important to learn about and follow standard practices when creating content for the web.
