  • Have you been able to use your Spanish post-graduation? I have used my Spanish extensively since medical school, in my residence program (where about 90% of patients were Spanish speaking from the Dominican Republic/Puerto Rico) and in my clinical practices in Minneapolis & Eagan.
  • Are your Spanish-speaking skills an important part of your career? Yes, I am able to see Spanish speaking patients independently both in my clinic and while caring for hospitalized patients.

  • Current Employment: Registered Nurse at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
  • Have you been able to use your Spanish post-graduation? I often use my Spanish to speak with patients and family members. I have also been able to do some translation, written and verbal, for doctors, social workers, etc.
  • Are your Spanish-speaking skills an important part of your career? Yes, I am one of three staff members who speak Spanish, so I often have opportunities to work with Spanish-speaking patients.
