RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows individual users to store references, sort them into folders, and to format citations using a wide range of styles. RefWorks also offers many additional special features, including a plug-in program for Word that integrates references into your written work.
Members of the Gustavus Adolphus College community must set up an individual account from a computer on campus. After initial account set up, users may access RefWorks from off campus using a special Group Login ID number as well as their individual account information. See below for details on the various methods of accessing RefWorks.
Special instructions for off campus access
- Enter Group Code for Gustavus: After initial set up of your Individual Account on campus, the Group Code will be e-mailed to you automatically.
- If you forget the Group Code, e-mail e-resources@gac.edu or call the Reference Desk (933-7567) to request the code.
Enter your individual account information
You may also perform a search in an online database and export citations into RefWorks:

Importing references
References from CSA databases, America History & Life, and Project Muse are loaded directly into a "last imported" folder.
To import other references, open Refworks, click on "import," choose the correct import filter and database, and browse to find the file you saved. Click "import" at the bottom of the screen to bring the references into your "last imported" folder. (For MnPALS catalog records, use "Ex Libris Aleph" and "Minnesota State University" for import filters.)
