Librarians'
Summer Institutes
Academic librarians have long had a strong interest in
the instructional role they can play at their institutions, but need to
find new ways to collaborate with faculty to make research instruction
more strongly embedded in the curriculum, particularly in the increasingly
complex information environment. The IMLS has provided funding for two
summer institutes for college librarians for six regional Oberlin Group
colleges. The first summer institute focused on pedagogical issues facing
libraries in the current hybrid information environment. The second summer
institute will deal with assessing student learning and using what we learn
to guide our programs.
