Tracking Current Economic Statistics

  The purpose of this service is to provide easy access to current Federal economic indicators. It provides links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies. Includes: Production, Sales, Orders, and Inventories; Output; Income, Expenditures, and Wealth; Employment, Unemployment and Earnings; Prices; Money, Credit, and Interest Rates; Transportation; International Statistics.

• Consumer Confidence Survey
  The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index is classified as a leading economic indicator by the U. S. Department of Commerce and is also carried in that agency's monthly publication Survey of Current Business.

• More detailed economic indicators
  From Georgetown University.

• Statistical Universe
  Includes summaries of statistical publications and searches and displays tables of statistical data.

Researching Economic Trends

• Congressional Budget Office
  Look for the "Budget and Economic Outlook" report.

• Financial Forecast Center
  Six month forecasts for major stock indexes, money rates, foreign exchange, and general economic indicators. Also includes historical data.

• Livingston Survey
  The Livingston Survey was started in 1946 by the late columnist Joseph Livingston. It is the oldest continuous survey of economists' expectations. It summarizes the forecasts of economists from industry, government, banking, and academia. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia took responsibility for the survey in 1990.
