Your instructors will review the guidelines for developing the electronic portfolio that is a graduation requirement for majors in Physical Education and/or Health Education. Review the Senior Portfolio Guidelines for details of what the portfolio must contain and details regarding its presentation.
You will use google.sites to create your e-portfolio since this application is free and can be edited from any computer with internet access. Even after you graduate, you will be able to edit/modify your e-portfolio throughout your career. You will learn in class how to develop a portfolio using google.sites.
* As you review these directions and work on your portfolio, you may wish to visit the sample e-portfolio to better help you conceptualize the task.
The homepage for your electronic portfolio welcomes the visitor. "Welcome to the Electronic Portfolio of _____________."
You will include an introductory paragraph explaining what the visitor will find at the site, why you created it, and contact information, such as name, mailing address, and email address. An educational quote of professional and personal significance, a picture or appropriate graphic, and a professional background will be included to create a homepage that is attractive and inviting.
There are no fewer than SIX links on the homepage: Resume, HES 237, Majors, Standards and Artifacts, About Me, and Home.
There are two different e-portfolio site maps to help you understand what is included within the e-portfolio. One is for PE/Health Ed majors and one is for Health Ed/Health Fitness majors.
Link 1. Professional Resume
This link on your homepage takes the visitor to a .pdf copy of your professional resume that will be developed in this class and revised throughout your college year. For directions on how to develop the Resume, visit this page: Professional Resume
Link 2. HES 237 Create a link to this course so that future employers, or others who might review your e-portfolio, will better understand this course and the e-portfolio assignment.
Link 3. Majors Create a link to the Majors page which will introduce your two majors, why you chose each, and state your overall career goal. For directions on the development of this page, visit this link: Majors Page
Link 4. Standards and Artifacts (PE and Health Ed teaching majors) To prepare for teacher licensure, each student who completes the education program at Gustavus must show evidence that he or she has mastered the ten standards mandated by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. For a Department of Education description of what they will require in the standards portfolio prior to graduation review, see EDU 399, Portfolio Information. In addition to meeting the MN Board of Teaching standards, PEH majors must also show mastery of the standards for PE majors created by NASPE and the standards for Health Education majors created by AAHE. For more information about the HES department guidelines for the senior e-portfolio visit the senior portfolio guidelines link.
The standards and artifacts page will therefore include a table that contains three sections of standards. See the Sample Portfolio for an example of what is to be included at this page. For a more detailed description of this assignment and how you will create the Standards Portfolio in this class, visit this page: Standards and Artifacts Portfolio
Link 5. About Me You will create a link entitled About Me on the main page of your e-portfolio. Your About Me page will be an i-Movie. For directions in creating this page, visit this site: About Me
Link 6. Home. This link will take the visitor back to your Home Page and should be included on your nav bar.
REMEMBER: Include a Navigation Bar on each page. The nav bar includes all of the above links.
