The department of Health and Exercise Science offers majors in physical education, health education, health fitness, and athletic training. Students may also complete a minor in coaching.
The Department's general education curriculum provides opportunities for participation in a broad range of physical activities which are designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills needed to improve personal fitness. Exploration of lifetime activities, health-related skills, and application of safety skills are other important goals within the general education program.

Dr. Stephanie Otto, assistant professor, HES, is working with two students, Annie J. Berger and Molly G. Faricy on research and a presentations at two conferences. "The Acute Effects of High Fat Versus Low Fat Meals on Respiratory Exchange Ration, Perceived Exertion, Heart Rate, and Blood Pressure During Exercise" will be presented at the NACSM conference and the NCUR conference this spring.
