Rebekah Richards has a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana, where she studied piano with Kenneth Drake and William Heiles, and pedagogy with James Lyke, Tony Caramia, and Reid Alexander. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. She studied piano tuning and technology for two years at Michigan State University under Owen Jorgensen.

In addition to her duties at Gustavus as Piano Lab Coordinator and adjunct piano instructor, she runs an independent piano studio in St. Peter and teaches Musikgarten classes at the Arts Center of St. Peter.

During 2002–2003 she was the recipient of the Piano Technicians Guild Teacher Enrichment Grant which allowed her to travel to the New School for Music Study in Princeton and Northwestern University in Chicago to observe other piano teachers. During 1995–1996 she was the recipient of an MTNA Teacher Enrichment Grant and a Regional Arts Council Individual Artist Grant which enabled her to study piano in Edinburgh, Scotland with Stuart Montgomery.

She has been a member of MTNA since 1981 and MMTA since 1987 and is a nationally certified teacher of music. She has held many jobs within MMTA including Independent Music Teachers Forum Chair, Vice President of Membership, Contest Repertoire Chair, and Syllabus Revision Committee member. Currently she is the state administrator of the Music Bridges program and co-chair of the St. Peter Ensemble Festival.

During her free time she enjoys working with Habitat for Humanity, gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband and three children.
