Confer/Vickner Hall

Confer-Vickner Hall houses the English Department faculty and classrooms on the third floor. The entire Confer/Vickner building houses faculty offices for three departments (English; Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures; and Scandinavian Studies), classrooms, Writing Center, the Culpeper Language Center, Edwin J. Vickner Phi Beta Kappa Room and a Digital Art Computer Lab.

The original building was dedicated in May 18, 1962 and officially named the Edwin J. Vickner Language Hall. The Confer side of the building was built on in 1991. Vickner Hall was a gift from Bertha Almen Vickner, class of 1910, and Edwin J. Vickner, professor of German, Spanish and Swedish from 1903-12 and 1950-51.

Confer Hall was added to the Vickner building and dedicated on October 27, 1991 in memory of Ogden P. Confer, Chairman of Hubbard Milling Company and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Gustavus.
