CICE Peer Advisors/Study Abroad Interns serve an IMPORTANT and VITAL role in the CICE office and in the lives of Gustavus students. They serve on the front lines of the CICE office and are the first contact for students interested in studying off-campus with Gustavus. Their main priority is to serve as Peer Advisors and to encourage and help Gustavus students with their study abroad dreams and plans, but each intern must also complete a project of mutual benefit to themselves and CICE. Each internship also includes administrative and clerical duties in addition to the peer advising and outreach. For a complete job description click here.
To apply, submit a cover letter, résumé and completed application questions to the CICE Study Abroad Advisor, Jill Fischer, by April 15 for consideration for all terms of the following academic year. Students who are able to intern for the entire year are given priority. All Peer Advisors/Study Abroad Interns work 10 hours per week (whether taking it for .5 or 1 credit/semester).
At least t wo Peer Advisors are needed for fall and spring semesters, and one Peer Advisor for J-term.
CICE Peer Advisors are technically students doing an internship for either .5 or 1 Credit. After being chosen by the CICE to serve as a Peer Advisor, those students must apply for the internship through the Career Center by the posted deadlines. CICE Peer Advisors must complete all the Career Center requirements and orientation. See the Career Center Internship web site for complete details. Peer Advisors may also be students with a work-study award.
